Upcoming: We Players' 2018 season
Back by popular demand, We Players will perform Mother Lear in a wide variety of Bay Area locations in Spring 2018.
This tight 50 minutes of fiercely original theatre is created and performed by Courtney Walsh and We Players’ Artistic Director, Ava Roy. A poignant production about an irascible middle-aged scholar with dementia who communicates with her caretaker daughter using only the text of King Lear as the two struggle with aging, love and their own balance of power.
A new work and world premiere, we players presents Roman Women at the Palace of Fine Arts in May 2018.
This ritual performance features a unique soundscape - including live instrumentation, classical text derived from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, and physical theatre and dance generated by the all-female ensemble.
A world premiere, We Players presents CAESAR MAXIMUS at the Music Concourse in Fall 2018.
Incorporating the nineteenth century popular entertainments of Opera and Circus, this multi-disciplinary, site-integrated adaptation explores power, grief, and popular action. Inspired by the bloody history of civil unrest, the piece leans into the blind fury of a righteously angry mob and opens up Shakespeare’s greatest political parable for our own tumultuous time.

Julius Caesar’s ambition, writing, generalship and brutal death on the Roman Senate floor continue to fascinate us more than 2,000 years later. Our panel will discuss both why Caesar continues to hold our attention, and the related world premiere of CAESAR MAXIMUS, which will be staged by We Players at The Music Concourse this fall.
