Today is the first day of rehearsal for our Midsummer of Love! We're diving into design presentations and learning the basic moves of our Bergomask. We're soaking in Strawberry Hill with all of our senses - so that we can share some magic there with you this summer!
We need a bit of pixie dust from your pockets to tickle our wings. Kick us just $5 or $50 and we will spin it into gold (and glitter too perhaps). Please join us on Kickstarter and join the ranks of the esteemed foundations who believe in our work and who join us in creative risk-taking.
We are so immensely grateful for the support we receive from each and every one of our community members - - - from our loyal family of patrons to those just discovering We Players, as well as the local and national organizations that are committed to funding innovative work that enlivens and inspires.
Such forward-thinking institutions as the National Endowment for the Arts, the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, and the San Francisco Arts Commission were the pillars of support of our recent BEOWULF. These organizations know that risky, brave, new work and cross-discipline collaboration is necessary for challenging and shaping our cultural landscape.
We are honored to add our name to the list of arts organizations to which the NEA has granted funding, totaling over five billion dollars in its fifty-two years. The Rainin Foundation, based locally in the Bay Area, provides space and funds to companies that they feel “push the boundaries of creative expression”. Our friends at the the San Francisco Arts Commission believe in the creation and strengthening of community through an investment in the arts. We believe in art, now more than ever, that delves and questions and pokes and prods, that leaves us unsettled. Thank you to those individuals and organizations that continue to take risks with us!
We expect our upcoming Midsummer of Love will be a wild and wondrous mix of joyous delight and provocative edge-testing. We hope you'll join us for a romp in the woods this summer.
