Spotlight on Hunter!
We caught up with Hunter Scott MacNair, who plays Jack Spear in our upcoming production of Undiscovered Country. Here’s what he had to say about the rehearsal process and about working with We Players.
What was your first show with We?
I played both Cassius and The Carpenter in last year’s Caesar Maximus.
How would you describe working with We in 4 words?
Refreshing, inspiring, challenging (in that the subject matter is as moving as it is and the depth of play is unparalleled by any other creative process I have been a part of), and soul-feeding.
Describe your favorite We Players memory.
From the moment I was given my first direction from Ava during the general auditions last year, I knew We Players was a company I had to contribute to. As an actor, as anything! But it was the week leading up to the opening of Caesar Maximus when I saw the strength of a dedicated group of creators and creatives in its truest form. We were challenged in a way I have never been in my artistic career and it was then that I realized these were my type of people and that We Players is the nonpareil of tenacity, intelligence, and artistry.
What is your favorite thing about working on Undiscovered Country?
The people. The questions asked. The questions answered.
What has surprised you during the building of this production?
Making a creative project always feels like I am giving a part of myself. Physical, mental, emotional; there is something I let go of every time. That said, never has a project felt this personal. It caught me off guard and it is very special to be here!
