Patrick Gillespie

Visual Arts Director

Patrick is an accomplished museum professional, artist and curator with several years experience participating in the art world in various leadership capacities.  His professional experience includes capital exhibitions, rotations of permanent collections and site specific exhibition planning and implementation.  He is highly attuned to challenges associated with large scale multi-phase projects and carries Project Management Professional credential from PMI, which enables him to successfully complete projects at the highest levels of quality.  Patrick is an excellent communicator and brings a global perspective to his work; he  has conducted field research in the Canadian Arctic, Asia and the Middle East.  The combination of professional experience coupled with global research enables Patrick to analyze and respond to complex systems, in service of developing a pragmatic and emergent approach to art and design. He began working with We Players during the company’s 2009-11 residency on Alcatraz Island, and has been instrumental in developing We Players visual arts program, organizing symposia and panel discussions, and expanding the discourse around site specific art in a broad social and cultural context.  In addition to serving as We Players Visual Arts Director, Patrick is an active member of the Spurse Collective and currently works at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco as the Head of Preparation.
