Kathleen Taylor is the founder of The Lotus Collection, one of the leading sources for decorative textiles in the United States. Established in 1988, The Lotus Collection offers high quality antique European, Asian, and Ethnic textiles, including tapestries and other wall hangings, table covers and general textiles. The gallery was located in historic Jackson Square in San Francisco from 1990 to 2015 when it moved to Sausalito. Kathleen holds a BA in Art History from Mills College, Oakland, California.
Through extensive research and travel, Kathleen is considered an expert in the field of antique textiles, particularly 18th century English, Italian and French textiles used for clothing or interior decoration. Over the years Kathleen has sold to many museums including the Chicago Art Institute and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. She has served on the Rug & Textile Vetting Committee at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show as well as the Los Angeles Antiques Show. Kathleen has exhibited at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show for 27 years. She is the past president of the Antiques Dealers Association of California and currently serves on the board of Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Northern California Chapter, the board of We Players, co-chair for the 50th Anniversary Gala at Marin Theatre Company on March 18, 2017 and Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club Fashion Show Runway Chair for 2017.
